1. Where is the apartment located on Sanibel Island?
Our place, Apartment E201, is in Blind Pass Condominiums, a small complex of
two and three bedroom apartments on the quiet end of the island, closer to
Captiva. We are on the second floor.
2. Are you on the beach?
Theoretically we are, as there are no streets between the condo complex and
the Gulf Of Mexico. But there is a small lagoon situated between the complex
and the beach and you must cross a wooden footbridge to reach the beach. Our
beach is considered by most who know Sanibel to be the best beach on the
island (widest, longest, least populated, best shelling, etc.)
3. Can you see the water from the apartment?
No, no unit in Blind Pass offers a Gulf view.
4. What are the advantages to staying at Blind Pass?
a. A sense of seclusion. Blind Pass is quite a distance from all the other
condos and hotels on Sanibel affording it a uniquely peaceful, unpopulated
and tropical environment.
b. A sense of property. Blind Pass is not just a building on the beach. You
can walk around the property and experience "breathing" space. The pool is
huge, the newly renovated tennis courts are set in a landscaped environment.
Even the lagoon offers a sense of discovery of nature as tropical birds can
frequently be spotted visiting this body of water.
c. Price. Square foot for square foot, Blind Pass is the best vacation value
on Sanibel or Captiva. The size of the apartments, their proximity to the
beach, the maintenance of the grounds and pool and the amenities offered
provide an economical and wonderfully relaxing resort for families, couples
and solo vacationers.
5. What is the layout of apartment E201?
We have over 1,200 square feet of living space. As you enter through the
front door, there is a small foyer with a new and beautifully appointed
kitchen to the left, just beyond an enclosed alcove where there is a new
washer and dryer. Immediately in front of you is the spacious living, dining
room area. To the right of this is the master bedroom with its own newly
renovated and expanded bathroom. Directly across from the master (separated
by the living/dining area) is the guest bedroom with its own bathroom.
6. Is the kitchen equipped to cook anything I or my family might want to
make?
The kitchen has a new stove and microwave and all the pots, pans and cooking
aides you will need for your vacation. Dishes are new and delightfully
tropical.
7. What about towels, linens, beach towels?
The unit is fully stocked with new and good quality sheets, towels and beach
towels. We also provide renters with beach chairs and a beach umbrella.
8. What do I need to bring?
Of course, your own personal items (toothbrush, hair dryer, shampoo, etc.) .
We provide a starter "Kit" of things for the household like dish and laundry
detergent, but you will either need to buy more while you are visiting or
bring it from home.
9. Are there things to do at night or on a rainy day?
Aside from activities you will find on or off island (see link to Chamber
site provided on our home page: http://sanibelsyl.tripod.com/ ); apartment
E201 is set up for rain or shine. There is a large tv with a vcr and stereo
with cassette and CD player in the living room as well as smaller tv’s with
new vcr’s in the bedrooms. There are books and jigsaw puzzles also provided
for your entertainment.
10. If the weather is cooler, is the pool heated?
Yes, the pool is heated.
11. Is there a porch, veranda or some other outdoor area?
No, apartment E201 is one of the units that does not offer a porch.
12. What are the advantages to staying in apartment E201?
Our apartment, like most vacation rentals on Sanibel and Captiva, is
privately owned. That means that our taste and needs are seen within the
structure, decor and necessities of living. We take every measure to make it
a clean, comfortable and convenient place to live for a week, two or more.
The extra touches, like ceiling fans throughout, the privacy of having two
ensuite bedrooms, the sophistication of the master bath, the quality of
linens and dishes, the abundance of quality electronic equipment ensure that
our guests will have everything they need to feel like they are in a luxury
hotel at budget prices.
13. Can you walk to restaurants and shops?
Sanibel Island is a small place threaded with walking, biking and roller
blading trails that take you anywhere you want to go on the island. But
unless you are very athletic, you will probably prefer to drive to these
destinations which can all be reached in a few moments by car.
14. Is there a place to park my car?
Yes, the car port is close to the apartment.
15. Is there a cleaning fee?
The apartment will be thoroughly cleaned before you arrive and after you
leave at no expense to you, assuming there has been no breakage or damage to
carpets or furniture.
16. What about while we are there?
These are housekeeping units...that is you keep (clean) the unit according
to your needs. Most items (vacuum, broom, etc.) you will need to keep house
will be in the unit. You may need to purchase some cleaning agents when you
do your food shopping.
17. When is check-in/check-out?
Check in is at 3pm and check out is at 10 am.
18. Are there any special rules and regulations I should know about?
As you know, this is a non-smoking unit and future renters depend on your
courtesy in abiding by this requirement. As with everything else, please
enjoy the conveniences offered and treat the apartment and your neighbors
with the same respect that you do at home. People escape to Sanibel for
peace and quiet and we encourage you ,your family and friends to keep this
in mind.
19. What if we do accidentally break/damage something?
Please report it immediately to the rental office. It is unfair to future
renters to have to deal with a malfunctioning or damaged item which happened
during your stay.
20. What are your favorite restaurants?
Sanibel is full of good restaurants, but our favorites are:
- The Lazy Flamingo (the original one not far from the apartment) which is a
super casual, local hangout with the freshest fish in town
- Sunset Grill (next to the Lazy Flamingo) and across from the Gulf with a
view of the water. Interesting food selections and a pretty "islandy" flavor
- The Green Flash on Captiva...slightly dressier with a very romantic vista of
mangroves and moonlight
- NEW!!! A really neat restaurant called Katie Gardenia’s just opened in the
Ace Plaza on Periwinkle. Great decor, excellent food and very nice service.
This could become our favorite!!!!!!!
EVERYTHING ON SANIBEL IS LOW KEY AND EASY, SO ABOVE ALL ELSE, RELAX, ENJOY
AND HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Please let us know about your vacation
when you return if you can)
